Born in Stratford-upon-Avon, Alice Farnham began her musical career as an organist, holding Organ Scholarships at Oxford University and St. Thomas Church, Fifth Avenue, New York.  She studied conducting for three years at the St. Petersburg Conservatoire with Ilya Musin and Leonid Korchmar.  The orchestras Alice conducted in Russia include the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra, the Hermitage Chamber Orchestra, and the Kaliningrad Chamber Orchestra.

From 2001 to 2004 Alice lived in Sweden and worked at Gothenburg Opera as Chorus Master and Assistant Conductor.  She has been a Guest Conductor with the Jönköping Sinfonietta, and in 2004 until 2007 Alice was Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the Borås Symphony Orchestra

She has toured the USA with London City Opera conducting Carmen, and has conducted Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream with English Touring Opera, and Die Zauberflöte with European Chamber Opera.  In 2006 she was Chorus Master for Opera Holland Park in their production of Pique Dame and was Chorus Master for the whole 2007 Season.  Since 2005 she has worked as a Prompter and off-stage conductor at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. 

Alice regularly conducts the Oxford Chamber Orchestra and was Assistant Conductor of the Thursford Christmas Spectacular.  In May 2006 Alice conducted her first Ballet with English National Ballet - Martin Ward's The Canterville Ghost, and in November last year returned to conduct Alice in Wonderland in Oxford and Cardiff Millenium Centre in May Alice also conducted performances of Stand and Stare, Constant Speed,and Lady into Fox with Rambert Dance Company.

Alice conducted I Capuleti e i Montecchi for Pimlico Opera's Autumn Tour in 2007, and will be conducting Falstaff  for 'Rising Stars of Grange Park' at Nevill Holt in July 2008, as well as touring with Pimlico again in the autumn. 

Since 2007 has Alice has been working as an Assistant / Cover Conductor at the Royal Ballet Covent Garden.  In 2008 she will make her Covent Garden debut, conducting performances of Giselle. 

 She will also be conducting the Brighton Philharmonic on 26th October at the Dome, Brighton.
